Our Wedding Video

So, 11 months later, I finally finished editing our wedding video.

If you have read part 1part 2part 3, or part 4 of our DIY wedding, you know that I was all about the dolla bills (saving them, that is). And that included the wedding video/videographer. I knew that I wanted our wedding to be filmed, but it seemed that all the videographers that I was attracted to aesthetically were charging upwards of $4000 which was not even a thought I could entertain. Don't get me wrong, I knew that they were worth every penny of their asking price (and that became even more apparent to me while I was on my 1,000th hour of editing). So, I set out to find a videographer who was willing to film the entire day and then just give me the raw footage so I could edit it myself. Insert Valor Kopeny, who was awesome to work with and put up with me and my crazy email at 1am the night before the wedding saying that I had to cancel (weddings and budgets can do some weird things to a girl). He even brought two other filmers with him so they had three cameras rolling the entire day. He broke up the raw footage on to 20 different disks and gave them to me last September. I can't even tell you how many hours I have spent going through all of the footage. Seriously, this was by far the most time consuming DIY project that I took on for this wedding. I knew absolutely nothing about editing before I started. Praise the Lord that iMovie is user friendly and made things relatively easy on me. I have to say that it was pretty awesome to relive that day through the footage. It really does go by in a flash, and if I didn't have it filmed I would have completely forgotten most of it. It was also nice to put the moments that were important to us in the video. When you hire someone to do the editing, you leave it up to their discretion what is put in the video and what is left out. But, on the other hand you also save yourself 11 months of editing, so I guess it's a toss up. Either way, I would highly, highly recommend that you get your wedding on video. Even if it's just a family member recording with their iPhone. Trust me, you'll be so happy you did.

Just a tiny explanation: If you are wondering, the horrible quality iPhone videos in the beginning are when we lived apart for almost 2 years and would send each other video texts every morning. Towards the end, we would count down the days until we would see each other. Also, we wrote our own vows and didn't share them until the ceremony, so we were both surprised that our vows ended the exact same way (you'll see what I mean when you watch the video). I think the rest of the video speaks for itself.

This really was the best day of my life. And even thougth I have seen this video countless amounts of times, I still get choked up when I hear his vows. His love fills me up to the brim, and most days I feel like my heart is going to explode. I am so deeply grateful and blessed.

Enjoy!

  2. No words. I finally finished your video and had to pull myself together. It is endearing, beautiful, genuine and perfect in every way. Thank you for letting Darus and I be a part of your special day. We had no idea what to expect when we arrived, but the immense amount of love and beautiful energy that stemmed from your union and being surrounded by all those who loved you both made us feel so welcome and happy, it was as if we had been a part of your lives for years. We had the best experience and truly enjoyed every minute. Fast forward a year later, the love and energy you guys had from that very day is still present every time we are around you two. And like that special day, we are again filled with that same familiar feeling of happiness and warmth. Simply put, we are bananas about you two. Cheers to the beautiful couple!
