weekend warrior

just thought i would share with you some recent grarage sale/goodwill/antique store finds. finding cool things in unexpected places is one of my absolute favorite things to do.

i found this little gem at a garage sale last saturday. i wasn't even planning on going garage sale-ing that morning. in fact, i was on my way to the gym when i saw the garage sale sign and it was like an out of body experience. it's like i lost the ability to think logically (this is what usually happens when i decide to go antiquing). my hands took over and followed the garage sale signs. garage sales can be hit or miss, and this one was a hit. it is the perfect size for a coffee table. i love brass details on the corners and the picture doesn't show the cute casters that it sits on. it just needs to be pressure washed and its good to go!
price: $40

i know this chair doesn't look like much now, but just you wait until it's reupholstered. i plan on taking off the skirt to expose the tapered legs. i found it tucked in a corner at goodwill, which actually made me sad. no one wanted to give him a chance. don't worry little buddy, i'm going to make you awesome again, i can see your potential. what attracted me to him was his proportion and curved arms. hold up. i just realized how weird i am (okay, that's a lie- i am very well aware that i am extremely odd) but the fact that i think of furniture as people is concerning.
price: $19.99

i found this antique lantern at an antique store in cambria. i plan on collecting a few of them at various heights and grouping them around our outdoor living space.
price: $30

this handcarved "hand" chair was also found at an antique store in cambria. i can't even begin to express to you how awesome it is. it stands about 3 feet tall and will look great in the corner with some books stacked on top.
price: $25

we are moving into a little beach cottage february 1st! be expecting some before/progress/after photos in the near future.

  1. I think having feelings about furniture feelings is perfectly normal. That old Ikea commercial with the sad lamp on the street is really sad and it makes me feel bad for the lamp. Love your blog!
